I’m writing this during a time of reflection. I’ve come to understand that taking care of my mental health is not just self-care, it’s soul care. Just as the Bible says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2), I am learning to be intentional about the thoughts I allow to stay, the emotions I choose to carry, and the truth I declare over myself.
There was a time I separated my emotional struggles from my faith, thinking prayer was enough to silence my anxiety. But the more I learn, the more I see that faith and mental health are not enemies, they are companions. Jesus withdrew often to quiet places (Luke 5:16). He rested, He wept, He felt deeply. And yet, He was never ruled by those emotions, He brought them before the Father.
Now, I’m learning to do the same. I’m learning that it’s okay to admit when I’m overwhelmed, but it’s not okay to stay in that place without calling on God’s help. “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7) is not just a verse, it’s an invitation to breathe deeply, to release, and to trust.
In this season, I’m integrating rest, prayer, boundaries, therapy, and journaling as part of my mental wellness routine. Just like we don’t neglect our physical or financial health, we shouldn’t ignore the health of our minds.
Let’s begin this journey of mental renewal, not by our own strength, but by the Spirit of God working in us. May we guard our minds, protect our peace, and walk boldly into each new day clothed in grace.
You’re not alone. Let’s aim for peace, and success.
